The best club nights, parties and more in Beijing this May

Take a look at our picks of the hottest parties going down in Beijing this May. With a whole slew of world-class local and international DJs playing sets all around the capital, you'll be hitting the dance floor every weekend. And for Beijing's best LGBT nights, make sure you check our guide here.

San Soda

Dada. Fri 4. Tickets tbc

Classic house and techno with a rough, Chicago- and Detroit-bent is the Berlin-based DJ's main preference, interspersed with cheerful disco and timeless electro cuts. Preferring extended sets with proper rotary mixers, San Soda is a gimmick-free selector who avoids tricks and effects.

Deadmau5

One Third. May 5. 180RMB (presale)

A prominent fixture of the electronic dance scene since the 2010s, progressive house icon, six-time Grammy nominee and wearer of surreal Mickey Mouse-esque headgear Deadmau5 performs at One Third after headlining Shanghai's Edc festival.

Stiv Hey

InfraRouge. May 5. Tickets tbc

One of the most sought-after new voices in the global techno scene, Italian DJ and producer Stiv Hey is bringing his own interpretation of techno to dance floors and festivals around the world, a sound that he dubs 'techno champagne'. His brand of tantalising melodies has earned him nods from some of the biggest names in the genre, as well as a signing with Dubfire’s SCI+TEC label.

Martin Garrix

One Third. May 12. 300RMB

In 2016, Martin Garrix made history as the youngest-ever winner of DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list, beating out legends like Tiësto, Armin van Buuren and Hardwell. In 2017, he held onto his title, making the Dutchman the world's number one DJ two years in a row. And with tracks like 'In the Name of Love', 'Animals' and 'Scared To Be Lonely', it's no wonder.

Diplo

Sir Teen. May 12. 280RMB

One part of Major Lazer and Jack Ü, Diplo returns to Beijing for a solo set at Sir Teen's monster two-day Creamfields Festival afterparty. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here.

Creamfields Music Festival 2018

Topwin Golf & Country Club. May 12-13. 780RMB (two-day pass)

An electronic music festival that needs little to no introduction, UK festival Creamfields has been running for the last 21 years and has finally set its sights on the Mainland this year. The lineup features a whole host of dance music legends, including the likes of Diplo, Martin Garrix, Above & Beyond, Alan Walker and much, much more.

Carnage

One Third. May 18. 200RMB; 160RMB (presale)

Though widely celebrated for producing hit singles for Lil Pump, Young Thug and Mac Miller, Carnage is also a talented DJ in his own right, having headlined festivals such as Tomorrowland and Ultra Music, along with writing hit singles 'Incredible' and 'Toca' with Timmy Trumpet and KSHMR.

Great Wall Festival 2018

Badaling Great Wall of China. May 19-20. 680RMB (two-day general admission); 980RMB (two-day VIP pass)

One of Beijing's best outdoor festivals returns with a killer lineup, including Chris Liebing, Carl Craig, Nina Kraviz (pictured), Dixon and Recondite. There's a 5km fun run before the festival starts, while the actual party kicks off at 2pm, with four stages packed with local talent including Ou Yang, Huang Weiwei and Shen Yue.

Jay Hardway

Sir Teen. May 25. Tickets tbc

Recently voted in at number 68 on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs list, Dutch DJ and producer Jay Hardway is best known for 'Wizard', the hugely successful dancefloor banger produced in collaboration with Martin Garrix. Having released the anthemic track 'Golden Pineapple' last year, Hardway brings thumping new beats to Beijing this May.
